Anyway I'm not sure there is any actual restriction on free camping but I'm not sure there isn't either and I don't want to be caught to find out. It looks like it's prohibited unless you're in a designated "free camping" spot ie a campground (so not really free camping).
Basically:
I want to camp alone -> I want a campfire and I don't want to pay a permit -> but campfires will draw attention -> Well shit no campfire then I guess -> but then why even bother -> guess I'll just stay home. Again.
