Solar energy ist great, Wind-energy is great.
The energy payback time of each technology depends mostly on its Location and orientation.
For a wind mill it's mostly less than a year, for solar its about 4 years where I live ( and my roof orientation).
There is no toxic material involved in either technology and the solar panels will still produce 70-80% of their original Peak wattage in 40 years.
