>>2113591lived there for 12 years, it's a pretty good /out/ country.
>top tier surfing>good rock climbing>hands-down world's best powder snow & snowfall for skiing/snowboarding>fantastic hikes all over the whole country>great diving down in the southern tropical islands>decent whitewater rafting>camping's not bad>good beaches (9 of the top 10 though are in Okinawa)best part is a lot of the best /out/ is easily accessible via public transport, being Japan.
You can just jump on an inaka train and head into the mountains for a day, do some hikes and take the train back no problems.
It's kind of like Canada or New Zealand in that respect, you can be in the middle of the city but drive 30min and you're in the middle of nowhere inaka mountains.
>muh population densityyeah but they're all in cities on the south coast.
remember, tokyo has literally 1/3rd of the country living in it alone.
Japan gets real countryside real quick once you head into the mountains, especially out west or up north.
Highly recommend if you're a cityfag that absolutely must live in a big city, but still wants close access to decent /out/.
