Cheap wool designs look larp tier, and imo some, like Base layer wool is too fragile. Wool isn't very wind resistant. I'd rather destroy polycotton pants. Sweaters are overkill. I do think woven wool works great, like above. Wool socks too. A lot of the woven midlayers are durable, light, and breathe very well in a massive range of temps.
Some guy on Alone won in a Lester River Bushcraft, and another was wearing Asbell wool.
