So you would tight the hook off and leave like anywhere from a foot, to 36 inches of line trailing it, then figure out where within that length of fishing line you want a sinker (weight) to be.

Sorry, I was out getting more fishing tackle. I actually bought the wrong sinkers for a drop shot (slip sinkers) which you use for a Texas Rig.
