I got one of these for like $25 on ebay, Czech m85 parka. It's the warmest jacket I have ever worn and if it came with a half decent hood it would be my absolute favorite. That nonwithstanding It's a terrible out jacket since it's one massive nonscalable layer, no way to make it less warm. Great for shoveling snow though.
If I had to design a perfect /out/ jacket I would put emphasis on good articulation in the shoulders and elbows and maybe several different removable liners for different temperatures.
