>>2687653i pretty much have two knives, a soldatenmesser 08 and a random bone-handle kabar from my late father that i rescued from a rusty demise in the basement. both have their pros and cons: the soldatenmesser is easier to clean and has a seam ripper, while the kabar is easier to sharpen. the kabar has held up fine for an estimated 30 years, i imagine it's good for another 20. same story with the soldatenmesser, i assume it'll really need replacing after 50 years. both are fine options, as is any non-shitty blade that one happens to have
