>>61805>is yellowstone and tenton worth it?Yellowstone is not worth it unless you want to go into the backcountry, IMO. You can see videos of Old Faithful, and the hot springs don't look any different from the pictures. Also, I am not particularly comfortable camping near Yellowstone frontcountry grizzlies. Too many damn tourists give them food, or leave food out at their campsites.
The Tetons are worth it even if just for the frontcountry, though, especially if you've never been to that area or seen bison, moose, elk, bears, etc., and while the bears may be badly-behaved park bears, what you'll see mostly are black bears (pic related), and not grizzlies. I may not understand the draw of Yellowstone, but I think I understand the Tetons very well. There are lots of scenic hikes you can do in one day or two; whereas Yellowstone really doesn't have mountains like that. I'd recommend at least 4-5 days to fully enjoy the Tetons. You can drive up to Yellowstone one of those days if you want, but honestly, it will feel like a wasted day. However, if you just had one or two days, I'd still go if you can afford it.
That said... that all being true, IMO.... with the price of gas as it is, you'll still get more bang for your buck if you focus on Arizona, southern Utah, northern New Mexico, and/or Colorado only. Wyoming is way the fuck far away. I hope you have a prius anyway.
