I recently bought an old walters axe at an antique store and restored it with a wire wheel and sharpened up with a stone, the blade still had a good profile so i didnt bother with a file.
I recently took it on a canoe trip and it worked great but it rained and it immediately rusted again. I also nicked a rock that i didnt see in the soil and chipped the blade. If i sand it and oil it next time will it rust slower? I used a rag and a rubberband for the sheath, anyone got tips on leather working or making one from scratch? Also, to fix the chip in my blade am i gonna need to get a file? What kind of file?
