Some power companies spray a shit ton of nasty industrial strength defoliant and/or pesticides (for the lyme ticks) around 'em so that their repair work crews can get in & out quickly without it being a hassle.
Tl;Dr: Stick to the trails/road. Don't wander off the pathway. Don't pick/eat from anything growing; IE: flowers, blueberry bushes, etc. And stay the hell away from any unnaturally large areas of dying brown/dead black patches
