I've had it for 8 years, it's been through hell and it goes on every camping and backpacking trip. The grip on it is great. Pair that with a glove that has rubber grip and the hatchet might as well be an extension of your arm. You'd have to do something intentional to break the handle like the fiskars pic we've all seen. A full power, everything you have, severe over-swing would probably break it. But that would break a wooden handle too. And I know about the handle replacement argument and it is valid. If you're going to be wielding a hatchet in such a reckless dumbfucking stupid way that it breaks mid-handle then you deserve it. I'm not shilling for the gerber hatchet, I'm just giving my take on it from experience. It works for me and I like it.
