>>2410016Are you going solo? If so, and you're gonna be more than a half mile from the road I would plan on quartering the animal in the field and hauling back the meat in a couple trips. Basically just field dress and skin it first. Use the skin like a tarp to keep your meat off the dirt. Then cut off the legs shoulder attached, those each go into a game bag. Then get your backstrap, tenderloins and any rib and neck meat you want for burger and put those in a bag. Tie or bungee cord as many as you can comfortably carry to your packframe and haul it out, then go back for the rest. You should put a cooler in your trunk to transport the meat. If you take all the meat off the bone the butcher can just throw it in the grinder and they will charge you way less.
