All it would take (and there are many other potential points of triggering failure) would be gas shortage or expense. If people can't "get to work" then even if trucks are still running then lots of places will be shut down. Always remember that everywhere we "get stuff" and every place essential to "keeping things running" is staffed by plain ol' people, and with just the right amount of chaos they will be cowering in fear like everyone else.
