>>2395494For me, Fresh cut grass needs to be 2X bigger than dried grass. So keep that in mind.
See images.
The light one was barely enough in some places, double that would probably be ideal.
Heavy mulch is too much for the buckwheat, it will keep the moisture in the ground and let them germinate but after a while it might be blocking off too much sun and be too dense to let the sprouds get to work faster. Should be good enough for my potatoes though.
Medium would be something between light and heavy, or as I said, at least twice as much as light.
You can also use dried grass and that image "light" version.
This shit probably doesn't make as much difference if you regularly water, but for a lazy bastard like me who wants to plant and forget about it. Finding the absolute minimum for things to survive is going to be valuable.
Over all it seems to be highly retarded to leave exposed soil open to the sun.
You should have either plants, or mulch from straw/cut grass covering things.
It just boggles my mind seeing people leave exposed soil, more so near nearly planted plants and then whine about having to water it constantly.
>>2395504Straw takes time to dry anon, cut grass can be made on the spot.
Over all I agree with the sentiment though. Having sun on full blast with no protection will rob the soil of water and nuke the living stuff in the top layer.
