Without knowing who you'll be with, where, how long, or what you want to cook though, I'm tempted to say for your first camp get a pair of mess tins and esbit stove (or similar). They'll likely do what you need starting out for a pittance, and you'll really appreciate a good setup if you decide to upgrade.
