Another shot from Southern Montana.
Around when I took this, I had my most serious bicycle issue. The spoke which had popped out in Oregon sprung loose again. I had a kevlar cord which is supposed to be usable as a temporary substitute, but as I put it in, I pushed the remnants of my old spoke through my wheel, where it quickly punctured my innertube.
It turns out that the guy out in Oregon who was full of shit when he told me to replace my hub also didn't know how to properly change a spoke, and left a piece of the original sitting in the nipple, which caused the new one to fall out and my replacement to be non-functional. I ended up hitching a ride to Boseman where I got the problem fixed an got to take an interesting detour along the Madison river. I ended up riding around the same number of miles I would have on my route.
