going to a gun shop to chat with people there is always a good idea.
Revolvers have a series of benefits that slide action guns do not have.
1) fixed sites typically. This means that when this gun gets bounced around, bumped, dropped, banged into a rock/backpack/tree/etc. its sights stay in alignment.
2) more simple system means more reliable system. revolvers are missing magazines so there is no magazine failures to think about. not possible to have a failure to feed, failure to eject, stop pipe failure, limp wrist failure, etc. simply not possible.
3) diversity of caliber. you can buy a 357 for hiking, and load it with 38 for carry... only ever loading 357 for the trail, considering bears or something. all without any modification to the gun. nothing.
4) accuracy is selectable (with exposed hammer). yes, slide action guns typically have adjustable sights, so you can fine tune them. but revolvers (with exposed hammer) allow you to shoot either single or double action. so if you want to shoot that ninja from 9000 yards away, thumb the hammer back and enjoy a short/crisp/light trigger pull.
5) double action heavy trigger pull is your safety... that means you don't have to worry about your gun not going off when you need it to, cause you forgot to take off the safety.
6) safer gun. lets just acknowledge the truth here. most people (out/ists esspecially) aren't gun people. youre just not. you might be a person with a gun, but youre not a gun person. you don't watch youtube vidoes about guns. shoot 5000+ rounds per year. you bought 1 gun or maybe 2 and they ended up living in a safe for 3 years at a time. what this means is that you are semi ignorant at best. revolvers offer a simple system, with no magazine to even lose. just grab it and go. there is a grip, a trigger, and a cylinder. super simple.
revolvers are better for out/ists.
