I just got the Mitchell 300 pro from Cabella's for about $70 usd.
It felt pretty good at the store, so I jumped on it. It is new from the 2013 line, and as far as I can tell, Mitchell doesn't have any newer models for 2014.
Anyways, I went out and it was really nice. The only issue is when you open the bail, sometimes the line doesn't pull away from the bail without you needing to pull the line off the ball roller on the bail. It's a minor inconvenience though because the bail and reel itself is really hefty.
It has a "halo" around the drum which improves the stability and strength of the bail, especially when reeling in a big fish. I think this $70 reel could have sold for $140 easily. I'm very satisfied for it as being an intermediate reel.
The only thing I really would have liked though is a screw port so I could put oil into the gear mechanism. Oh well. But for a reel under $100, I would recommend to any angler.
