The north island's alright, less otherworldly than the south but there is some underrated bush, the forests of the north east are pretty extensive
And accessible in their core thanks to the 100km shitty pothole ridden gravel road that goes past lake Waikaremoana
I never caught a glimpse of the lake when I was there because of horrendous weather, but very nice atmosphere in the woods, pic rel
I only wish the north island had a little more places above tree line so we could get better looks at all this
