we use 5 or 10 man arctic tents with vent holes so you can run a coleman stove/lantern inside and it gets nice and warm, keep your gear outside the tent so it stays dry, if you bring cold gear in the tent it attracts condesation
insulation from the ground is just as important as the bag for sleeping, use evergreen boughs under an air mattress for max comfy
half the battle is learning how to keep dry and dry the gear that gets wet, ie two pairs of mukluk liners, gloves, touques etc to cycle as one pair dries etc
