Rapala has been really hit or miss lately but certain stuff like the x rap line is still fine but still under or equal at most to the japanese equivalent. American soft plastic are still okay and cheap and durable while japanese’s soft plastic are more expensive and have better performance but get ripped up more because they are typically softer.
Aside from the big corp stuff, I do enjoy more simpler types of lures and tackle such as soft plastic and jig head made from smaller local company. They are made for local regional fishing so they have designs, action, and color that works well for the region.
