I need some stupid-question advice:
How big of a garden do I need and how big of a garden can I actually manage with a 40h job?
Now, of course that really is a stupid question, since it depends on many factors, so let me explain my situation:
First off, I'm not a /pol/
>I gotta be prepared for muh race war! I wanna be self sufficient!
>What do you mean what I've been growing so far? I grew some mold in my cum jar once before mum kicked me out of the house!
retard. I grew up with a garden but currently I'm straight in the middle of a city, but with kids and the current prices, I want to move out and have a garden.
So I know a thing or two, and I guess I can always manage what I'm used to from my childhood, so about 50 square meters (approx 540 square feet). Was always enough to have plenty of tomatoes, zucchini and various herbs and spices during summer and most of our other vegetable needs during harvesting time. But there wasn't much extra for storage or canning or pickling.
So I want to look for places with more space available, but I'm looking for some numbers. As said: my minimum is 50 m2 and it doesn't make sense to aim for full self sufficiency, but I want to try out some things to figure out what I can/want to do, e.g. seeing how much work vs. space vs. yield potatoes are doing or trying out stuff like milpa or stuff like corn + beans or grain + lentils (though the latter probably would be a lot of work to flail).
How much space do you guys have and what are you doing with it? How much work are you investing?
