I was out on a day hike in Pisgah Forest, and instead of smoking at the end of a hike to ease minor aches and make the trip back more enjoyable, I tried to keep at a steady level throughout. Bad idea.
I was so blazed I convinced myself that because it was a less traveled trail, blazes would be farther in between, and less well marked. It didn't help that the white blended with the trees pretty well. I don't mind giving it up if it's going to get me in trouble, but I think it's suited pretty well to this kind of activity.
