Over the pond we've got a tick map and measure the tick numbers and they've definitely increased alot. Luckily they don't seem to like it by the coast where im at, even with loads of sheep around. Go inland a few miles though to a hilltop region and the dog is guaranteed to get one or two. Is it the same there? can't imagine they have a tick issue in Seattle for instance or inland where it gets cold.
