Yeah thats kind of what I'm figuring, I'm just going to go basic, anything I need i can get in So Cal, and when I hit tahoe i can get off the trail for a day or two and ship shit home, I personally don't need much and don't even take much with me on fire so I've got that for experience.
We'll see if they issue me my permit though i applied today, hopefully they will and I'll be GTG
