Being that you're moving through a three dimensional canopy rather than up a 2D slab, and the structural differences between different species or even individuals of the same species, each climb offers unique character and a ton of possibilities for creative movement and challenge. Especially if you are using ropes to redirect your weight (as an arborist would on a work climb), allowing the climber to move out laterally and reach areas where free climbing would be impossible. Like you can pick literally any spot in the canopy and challenge yourself to get there. After years of tree climbing, rocks feel so linear in comparison. Don't condemn something just because it's not what you're accustomed to, anon.
