During low water, you can wade miles up the Rio Grande under the 2000' walls of Santa Elena canyon, snickering as frustrated kayakers repeatedly ground themselves on the mudbars. In all fairness, only half of the canyon belongs to Texas...BTW back in the 1990s, a sniper on the Mexican side opened fire on some rafters below for shits and giggles. Never was caught.
