I totally see what you mean though. I'd actually pretty happily label myself an environmentalist if it weren't for what the word has come to be associated with these days. If you ever want to talk to legit nature lovers you gotta go hang out with hunters and trappers just because they understand both sides of the picture and fully respect the balance of nature as well as our place in it as a species. The type of environmentalism these crypto flower children are talking about is just repulsive and hypocritical.
