Use hiking sticks or at least (!) a wooden walking stick from the woods. I did the Primitivo (AMA btw) and my knees were absolutely busted after a good week of hiking. And no, I'm not an ultra heavy bushcrafter with 30 kg of LARP shit. My pack weight was with 10 kg max, including water and food.
Secondly, don't use boots. I used pic related with nicely padded socks. No blisters at all. And much lighter. Better airflow and so on. For flat ass Spain you could even use fucking flip-flops.
And lastly regarding "training": go hiking with all your gear (or use multiple water bottles). For me the most difficult part was wearing the backpack for hours on end because before the camino I only did day hikes.
Thats literally all the advice anyone needs. Just walk, man.
