I grew up in a small fishing/hunting village on the East Coast of Canada. I love some cities like Montreal, but can't stand others like Toronto.
I feel a certain disconnect with my friends from the cities, but nothing that makes me like or understand them less. I just can't understand being in a rush about so much all the time.
The biggest disconnect for me isn't so much with cities in North America, but in Europe. That place is fucking crazy. I don't understand how anyone could live there comfortably. Everything is too fast and too slow at the same time and it was like Chinese water torture for me living in France for a number of months.
Makes places like Montreal look like an Arctic hamlet.
