>>2127308It's very easy to put up a hammock. I use a piece of paracord, wrap it around the tree, make some knots and hang my hammock on with some oversized carbine hooks. It takes 3 minutes to put up.
There are probably better ways to do this with stronger rope, but the paracord have worked for about 10 nights for my fat ass, so take that as you will.
One thing to note is that not all hammocks have built in insect nets. Also note that you're very exposed to wind and water in a hammock. If you're planning on sleeping in colder/wetter weather you'd want a tarp to go with the hammock. The tarp is just as easy to set up.
I really recommend getting one to try out. It's very comfortable to sleep in and you can get them for very cheap if you're just trying it out.
