Honestly if its super hot and rainy i dont even bother with a jacket a lot of times tho. for 18 bucks and 5oz frogg toggs cant be beat. you can fix with duct tape. you can buy a new pair along the trail. They dont absorb water so wont wet out and work great as a hard shell paired with a fleece when the wind/cold picks us.
either throw out the pants or cut them into pic related (but rotate 90 degrees) for a rain skirt. they will shred the first day it rains if you walk with them as designed. most people even dont bother with rain pants/skirt
