>>2305139A constant lesson in pain. I can't possibly talk about all of my experiences here (will share some in detail if there's interest), but here's a few things that actively harmed me.
>thorny acacia that ants live inside (bump into one and you get stabbed and stung)>basket tie-tie palm covered in hypodermic needles>tiger ants (cousin of bullet ants)>microscopic mites that covered my body and set it on fire>unknown GI issues that caused me to shit my pants a few times>razor grass (does what it sounds like)>god damn wasps everywhere>at least 8 venomous snakes>"give and take" palm covered in massive thorns. I accidentally punched one and couldn't open my fist for a week>tons of other generally pokey plants>humid and hot as shit>no relief from torture for 2 monthsThat jungle is about as unfriendly as they come. The microscopic mite day was the worst of all. I've worked in Madagascar, which has a very friendly jungle. Talking with people who have worked in other tropical areas, they all say Central America has the meanest jungles on the planet.
