All around the east coast there were these things called Nike missile silos that were decommissioned in the 70s. All the warheads were removed along with anything remotely sensitive or important and all that remained were the empty silos. A lot of these were simply covered in a few feet of soil and turned into parks but before that happened kids would explore them. There's actually a park around me called Nike park that a lot of people think is named after the company but is in fact named after the missile program. Kids still try to find an entrance to the silos all the time.
