The biggest downside was the lack of a mesh screen, however I can just wear the bug headnet I have.
I really want to be able to just unroll the bivy, with the sleeping bag and sleeping bag inside, like a cowboy bedroll. Keep all my clothes inside and such. This kind of system seems to work quite well with my kind of camping.
I should have mentioned in the beginning that I would pair this system with a tarp. The tarp hangs off my bike. I have cowboy camped like this before, just the sleeping bag on the sleeping pad, but obviously this doesn't work as well in windy and rainy conditions.

The problem is these stupid fucking camping gear companies make a great product, then stop selling it after a 2 year run time.
