North of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and the Chugach Mountains, trees get small, the area changes drastically and remote living is a good as it gets. There are no native reservations up here so the "deep wood" villages that have 99% Native population count for many missing cases/rape/crime. Easy to get lost out in that area. North of Fairbanks is even more remote
