I'm sure you could get away with a casting reel on a spinning rod, but it won't have the trigger (which you may or may not even use) and the grip might be different. But a spinning reel on a casting rod wouldn't be the best. The guides on casting rods are normally smaller, especially the bottom couple guides. Plus you would have a trigger sitting on top of the rod and look like a weirdo.
Pay attention to how many pieces as well. I think those were both 2pc which is straight for a 9' rod, but I prefer 1pc rods although everything under 7'6". Some people say the action is better on 1pc rods but I never noticed a huge difference. And you don't want to accidentally buy a 5pc rod if you don't need it.
