>>1238498of course i can only speak for me, but you got to wear two pair of socks: first one cotton and second one wool. worked the best for me in my army time, though i had the swiss military boots, not the french. (pic related but not mine) then what also is important with leather (military) boots is to properly running them in. it took 5 weeks walking and working in them and they were like socks to me. and don't forget to always grease them.
