Download an app, I have always used Gaia GPS, it's great and a bit of a standard now. You can use it to plan routes and manage gps tracks. You can also download the maps onto your phone so you can view them while in aeroplan mode. Don't be turned off by the fact you have to pay, it's well worth it!
You can also head to the caltopo website and use that to make and print paper maps.
