It seems like people always post these ultimate packs of gear in these threads. So I am going to go against the grain and be completely honest about what I take when I go inawoods.
>Crappy Jansport backpack like 6th graders use
>Cheap Home Depot brand leatherman clone
>Rolling papers
>Rolling tray
>A couple disposable lighters
>Matches
>MMJ
>Rain poncho
>Protein bars
>Beef jerky
>Tarp
>Rope
>Jug(s) of water
>Collapsible 1 man sleeping tent
>Solar/crank powered radio
>Bug repellent
>Charged cell phone
>Extra socks
>Compass
>Printed maps off internet in ziploc
And then strapped to the outside of the pack using a truly ghetto makeshift rigging system I have my sleeping bag rolled in a self inflating sleeping mat, a couple extra surplus canteens full of water, my Estwing axe and a pouch with easily accessible bear mace.
This is all a rough estimate of what I usually pack. I don't have any master list or anything If I am leaving on a Friday night and coming home on a Sunday morning, the pack usually looks similar to the above. I have been doing this for years with no problems.
The only thing I plan on ever changing is someday getting a better backpack.
