>>405763Few more things OP. You probably know this already but, regular businesses are all desperate for workers as well, not just Oilfield companies. So, if you get here and dont land the oilfield job you want right away, it would be easy to get a job at just about any local business. I heard that even Walmart was paying like $17/hr for nite stockers or something and they get O.T. too. Something like that could give you a steady paycheck while you continue to look for another job.
The US postal service is hiring in most cities in the oilfield part of the state. Alot of city, county and state jobs are available too because so many people have hired on in the oilfields. The railroad companies are hiring too.
For job searches definitely include using the employment services they hold job fairs every week.
Finally, when it comes to the oilfield job, only take a job with an established, reputable company that has full benefits and will provide housing or extra compensation to cover housing expense. There are plenty of them in the oilfields. It is not a problem. They have the budget and will pay for it. No shortage of money here. Dont let yourself get short-changed.
Outside in winter i like to use these Zippo hand warmers. They work pretty great. two of these inside your sleeping bag with you at nite would be a big help. they burn regular zippo or ronson lighter fluid. one fill up can burn for 6+ hours. I've used them and they work. they get nice and toasty.
