Watching youtube videos and survival stuff is nice but you want all of the basics, otherwise you might not know about magnetic declination when you first take a trip, and you'll end up lost because of it, or maybe it'll be another topic that you just didn't coincidentally run into. Read the book.
You may also try out the 5th, 9th, and 10th editions if you feel like it. Avoid any others.
Watching Ray Mears teaches a lot, Les Stroud (survivorman) can also be useful, they're both pretty comfy to watch imo.
