>>2743710From the research I was doing it seems like the engwe m20 is a pretty good option for trails (though the fact it's a motorized trail bike for the same price as the steel hardtail has me a bit worried). At this point I've pretty much got the rest of the lightweight equipment I needed and am just waiting for a chance to actually full on camp out in my tent. I've set it up a couple times now, tested it out in the heavy wind and storms, and am pretty much good to go.
>>2743713They had a "like new" x-mid 1 on sale for 200 bucks so I ended up going for that. So far it's great and there's enough space at the top and bottom for your equipment as it's bigger than your average 1 person tent. It's very comfortable, but my only genuine concern is side sleeping. It's got enough width and length in there to comfortably sleep either way, but when you roll over from your side to your back I've found you catch every time in the interior netting or can even lay on the pole. Now I've put my full weight against the trekking pole and it didn't budge, but say you're konked out on your side, roll over with your full weight, and hit the pole. Are you going to bring down the tent? Will the feeling wake you up? Or will you naturally adjust and eventually maneuver to your back with little trouble? That's gonna be the big test for me. So far it seems like a perfect tent and has handled pretty much everything I threw at it, but the side sleeping is my last big concern. Also, the outer tarp will thankfully keep everything nice and dry if for some reason you can't fit it into the extra heas/foot space.
