I use the alarm and stopwatch sometimes, but usually I just use the clock function, especially when the trees are too thick to see the sky. Having the second hand or digital display would be good for tracking vitals in a wilderness medicine type situation. When I worked as an EMT I preferred high contrast analog second hands to digital displays but digital is fine, too.
