Get a Mora, it's cheap, and it's the only knife you won't ever regret buying.
As you start, you'll make mistakes, like abusing your knife or poorly sharpening it. Or losing it. You don't want to do that with an expensive knife, believe me.
Also, you can't possibly know what you need when you start. Different people have different needs, I myself need pic related despite being the epitome of what /out/ hates, that is, big knives and serrations. Yet I'm fine with it, and that's what I need.
If you start with a basic knife and learn to use it, you'll get to learn about its limitations, and eventually identify what you REALLY need. A BK9 is a very specialized knife, starting with that would be stupid.
I can understand the will to get a knife that looks "cool". Hell, I own pic related because it look cool too. But I went through several Mora-grade knives before getting this one, and I got it because I have a need for it.
A Mora is never a mistake OP.
