Been shopping at Mountain Warehouse today, picked up some lightweight breathable trainers with decent soles as an alternative to my boots (because summer is coming), and a proper waterproof jacket for the first time (because summer doesn't deter the rain one bit up in the Lakes). What a difference that is going to make over my crappy roll up "crisp packet" one. Love how it doesn't ride up when I lift up my arms too, feels like it will sit well with a bag on all day, whereas now I'm fiddling with it constantly. Not bad for £25 and £35 (down from £70) respectively, some good sales on in there atm for low-to-mid-end gear and clothes.
>>511988>going to a country pub for dinner is a nice treat after a days walk>long, hard walk, you're soaking wet>walk into a country pub, you know the type>low ceilings, slate fireplace, patriotic tat on the walls>crackling fire, landlord chucking more logs on>get the pints in, have a bit of a wash in the bathroom then grab a seat by the fire as you look over the menu>hot meal, probably something covered in gravy>another pint, something dark from a brewery around the corner>dozing off in the corner, satiated by that gentle ache in your legs and a belly full of rich food and good beer>finally decide to make a move after realising you've been in there for a few hours alreadyI only do the walking because it feels like a prerequisite for the above :)
