I don't see how that makes Canada a joke as a nation. We may share problems with our neighbors but we also have:
Longer life expectancies
Lower infant mortality rates
Lower rates of disease, both chronic and acute
A higher reptrak rating
A higher credit rating
A higher education ranking
Higher middle and low class incomes
More affordable universities
More affordable healthcare
A higher IHDI
Functional and comprehensive bilingualism
More impressive athletic history
A more sound economic model
Higher college graduation rates
Less crime of every type
Lower incaceration rates
A higher business rating and outlook
More viable options with political parties
Less partisanship
Canada is one of the best countries on earth to live in according to virtually every metric possible, it has an impressive history for a rural, underpopulated, new country. Between FYES, G7, G8, UN, NAFTA, NATO, our GDP, SP ranking, etc. we are one of the top 10 countries on earth in terms of "relavence." I like living the rural life too, I would like to see some of our problems worked out, like I said, I don't see how that makes Canada a joke though.
