Nowadays everyone gets ferried so long distance marching isn’t much of a concern. Couple that with advances in rubber and plastic and it doesn’t make sense for soldiers to wear hobnailed boots anymore. But as a hobo? Probably a good idea except they’re pretty loud just walking around. Also they do wear down eventually and need to be replaced.

Picrel, when I wear these it sounds like i’m the evil nazi in a holocaust movie stomping around the jews hiding place during a suspense scene. Probly not ideal for trying to be a low key.
