My parents had a narrowboat when I was a young teen, and the town I grew up in had the canal going through it so I'd always been around them. Lived in Berlin for a few years, then on a whim me and the missus did a one week narrowboat holiday on the Kennet and Avon canal. Fell in love with it, fancied something new so bought the boat, moved back to the UK and here we are.
It cost £50k, and is 52ft..I think prices are on the increase at the moment though, tons of demand
The CCer thing isn't *massively* enforced, we've overstayed in plenty of places before but only by a few days. You're more likely to get 'spotted' in busy places in the summer, than the arse end of nowhere in winter. And the process to remove your boat from the canal even if you act like a total cunt about it can take years anyway
