The stock tank's a little over 2 gallons, around town that's ~150mi range. I have a 22oz MSR fuel can that's enough reserve after I hit reserve that I can usually get to a gas station.
Comes down to trip planning, really. Hit 50-75 miles of dirt and land in some small town, stop for some food and fuel before getting back on the bike and continuing.
